Success at the Transport Research Arena conference

Leeds University has achieved a double success in the YEAR 2012 competition in the Transport Research Arena (TRA) conference in Athens. Institute of Transport Studies PhD student Rawia El Rashidy has been awarded a gold medal and Gillian Harrison from the Doctoral Training Centre in Low Carbon Technologies has been awarded a silver medal in the ‘Governance of the Transport System’ pillar.

The YEAR (Young European Arena of Research) 2012 Poster competition, supported by the European Union, profiles promising young researchers specialising in surface transport. Early stage researchers from all over Europe were invited to submit abstracts describing their work under the 6 Scientific Pillars of the conference and out of over 350 entries, 30 were invited to come to TRA 2012 in Athens with a poster of their work and to defend it to an expert in their field.
