Institute for Resilient Infrastructure

Research projects

The iRI currently holds over £5 million in research funding, supporting projects that involve combinations of a wide range of technical Engineering disciplines - Materials, Structures, Geotechnics, Fluid Mechanics and Management. While we are proud of the diversity of our research, the common thread throughout is to contribute to an Engineering response to one or more of the 'threats and hazards' that disrupt infrastructure systems.

The work of the iRI overlaps with that of our collegiate institute (PaCE) in areas including Contaminated Land and Ground Water, and Solid Waste Management. iRI members also collaborate with the Sustainability Research Institute (SRI), Leeds University Business School and the Institute for Transport Studies on several projects.
