Postgraduate Taught Student Scholarships and Bursaries

Listed below are the postgraduate taught scholarships and bursaries offered by the five schools in the Faculty of Engineering.

Leeds Alumni – Graduate Bursary

Eligibility A bursary for any former student (and for children of former students, parent or step-parent was a student at the University) of Leeds studying for a postgraduate (research or taught) qualification in the Faculty of Engineering. Excluding courses that are run in conjuntion with other universities. This bursary is open to students who are commencing their studies from September 2010 and can not be awarded retrospectively.
Criteria None - automatic, but you have to inform us and provide evidence that you or a parent/step-parent are former students of the University of Leeds.
Value 10% of fees paid by the individual for each year of the course. If no fees paid then no bursary is awarded.
Application deadline None - automatic to former students (children of former students). If you think you are eligible you need to contact the relevant admissions team for the course you have applied for.


Excellence Scholarships

We have a range of excellence scholarships available for those wishing to study in any of the five schools within the Faculty of Engineering.

Who is eligible? Any potential student who has been offered a place on any of the postgraduate taught courses listed below within the Faculty of Engineering.
How are they awarded? Academic achievement/excellence
How much are they worth?

£4,000 for full time international fee paying students
£1,000 for full time UK/EU fee paying students

How many are available? 26 in total across the five engineering schools. Please see below for number available in each school.
Application deadline 30 June 2010 (for entry in 2010), successful applicants will be notified within two weeks of the deadline and must respond accepting the scholarship within 14 days. Download application form.

The School of Civil Engineering

Number of scholarships available: 6

The School also offers the Ray and Naomi Simpson Scholarship worth £3000 towards fees and £1000 towards maintenance, which is awarded to the best British applicant. If there are no British applicants then the scholarship may be awarded to the best applicant from a British Commonwealth country.
