| Eligibility | A bursary for any former student (and for children of former students, parent or step-parent was a student at the University) of Leeds studying for a postgraduate (research or taught) qualification in the Faculty of Engineering. Excluding courses that are run in conjuntion with other universities. This bursary is open to students who are commencing their studies from September 2010 and can not be awarded retrospectively. |
| Criteria | None - automatic, but you have to inform us and provide evidence that you or a parent/step-parent are former students of the University of Leeds. |
| Value | 10% of fees paid by the individual for each year of the course. If no fees paid then no bursary is awarded. |
| Application deadline | None - automatic to former students (children of former students). If you think you are eligible you need to contact the relevant admissions team for the course you have applied for. |

| Doctoral Training Grants (DTG) | |
| The Faculty of Engineering has been awarded fourteen doctoral training grants for UK and EU students. These prestigious awards are made by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). | |
| How are they awarded? | To be considered you should make a formal application for PhD study, stating clearly that you wish to be considered for a DTG award. Before submitting your application you may wish to discuss proposed research projects with individual academic staff members in the Faculty. Applications will be considered on academic merit. |
| How much are they worth? | The award covers academic fees, a annual maintenance award of £13,290 in the first year (typically rising with inflation for subsequent years) and additional funds for fieldwork and travel. Awards are for 3.5 years, subject to satisfactory performance. To be eligible for the award, you must have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years preceding the start date of the award, and eligible to pay fees at the home/EU rate. EU candidates who have been resident in the UK for three years (including for education) are eligible for the full award. Other EU candidates may receive a fees-only award. |
