Water Supply and Sanitation in Developing Countries
The School of Civil Engineering at Leeds is a world leader in research and teaching on appropriate delivery of water supply and sanitation services in Low Income countries.
We are a multi disciplinary team with interests in the design, delivery and operation of services for people living in low income and/or unplanned communities in rural and urban areas.
We have research interests spanning:
- low cost wastewater treatment and reuse
- low-cost sewerage
- appropriate and sustainable provision of water supplies
- planning and operation of services for slums and unplanned communities
- financing of water and sanitation goods and services
- management and safe treatment of feacally contaminated wastes
Research is carried out in partnership with universities, UN bodies, governments and civil society organisations of or working in countries of the global south.
