The activated sludge process will be 100 years old in 2012 and is now the system of choice where a tight effluent consent is required. It has seen many changes over the past century as our understanding of this treatment process has led to improvements and innovations. We are recognised for our expertise in the activated sludge process and its variants such as the sequencing batch reactor (SBR) and membrane bioreactor (MBR). We have worked closely with water companies, consultants and contractors to: advise on process selection, undertake process design reviews, troubleshoot problematic treatment plants and update designers and operators in advances in treatment processes. Our work in the Group involves:

Ringstead, Dublin
The Ringsend WwTw, Dublin.
  • Process control through microbiological examination
  • Operating strategies for reducing carbon footprint and energy demand
  • More sustainable design approaches for tertiary treatment
  • Improving sludge quality for enhanced downstream processing
  • Operator training
