Contaminated Land and Groundwater
The School of Civil Engineering at the University of Leeds has a long-established track record for research on contaminated land and groundwater. The group currently focuses on sustainable approaches to resolving geo-environmental problems, as well as being involved in wider aspects of contaminated land management.
Research interests in the team include:
- Microbial processes in contaminated soil & groundwater
- In-situ treatment of contaminated groundwater
- Sensor systems for environmental monitoring
- Stability and settlement characteristics of ashes and tailings
