Potential PhD Topics
If you are interested in doing a PhD in this area you may like to look at these potential projects which the PaCE group are particularly keen to work on.
Biogeochemistry of contaminants in extreme environments .
Integrated systems for treating groundwater.

Projects
Stimulation of microbially-mediated chromate reduction at highly alkaline contaminated sites.

Stability and settlement characteristics of mine tailings and of hydraulically placed power station fly ash.

Contaminated Land and Groundwater

The School of Civil Engineering at the University of Leeds has a long-established track record for research on contaminated land and groundwater. The group currently focuses on sustainable approaches to resolving geo-environmental problems, as well as being involved in wider aspects of contaminated land management.
