Welcome

The School of Mechanical Engineering has an international reputation for teaching and research and has consistently achieved the highest possible rating in the UK government Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), with 75% of staff rated 3* or 4*, denoting internationally excellent or World leading. Our high ratings mean that we can attract the best staff and can invest to provide excellent laboratory facilities. This benefits all of our activity from undergraduate and postgraduate teaching to research and knowledge transfer.

We offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate taught and research degrees across the mechanical engineering discipline area.

Research within the School is organised within three research institutes:

We also have a Doctoral Training Centre in Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine in partnership with the Universities of Sheffield and York.
