The School of Process, Environmental and Materials Engineering is one of the largest integrated multidisciplinary engineering schools in Europe.

The School is ranked 3rd in its subject category in the latest Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), with 80% of staff in the School rated 3* or 4* denoting internationally excellent or world Leading research.
