Partners and Collaborators

The Institute of Engineering Systems and design work with business development teams to focus our research in three application areas:

• High Value Industrial Systems through the School of Mechanical Engineering's Industrial Liaison Manager (email: A.Barnett@leeds.ac.uk).
• Consumer Products through the Faraday centre.
• Medical applications through the University of Leeds’ Innovation and Knowledge Centre in Regenerative Therapies and Devices.

The ability of the Institute of Engineering Systems and Design to deliver human-centred solutions research is facilitated through the group having strong multi-disciplinary links to numerous organisations. Key collaborators within the University include colleagues from the Academic Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, the Leeds University Business School (including the Centre for Socio-Technical System Design), Pyschology and the Leeds School of Design.

The institute also has strong collaborative ties to prestigous external organisations, including Rolls-Royce, ABB, BAES and National Instruments, as well as partnerships with charities such as Age Concern and Heart Research UK. We also have frequent interaction with local schools to both promote engineering and also aid our group's research.
