New students

Undergraduate Achievement Scholarship

The Faculty of Engineering is offering scholarships up to £4,000 to all new Home/EU rated fee-paying students who start an engineering or computing undergraduate degree course at the University of Leeds.
How much is it worth? £4,000 spread over 4 years and is subject to satisfactory progression.
Who is eligible? The scholarship is available to Home/EU rated fee paying students who achieve A*AA at A-level (A2) or equivalent. The grades must be in subjects required for the course. Student must be new to the University and enter onto level 1.
Application deadline No deadline - Automatic
Conditions apply Students must achieve a yearly attainment percentage of 60%. The scholarship will be withheld in a year where a student fails to achieve 60%, but will be reinstated the following year if the student's performance recovers to 60% or over.

BP Scholarship - £2,000

If you are studying in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year of one of the 4-year MEng, courses in (Mechanical Engineering, SPEME and Electronic and Electrical Engineering) (see table for eligible courses) you can apply for the £2,000 award. To apply you need to have achieved a high academic standard i.e. a 2.1 average for the previous year of study or first term of study (for 1st years only).

There is no obligation on either party (BP or the award holders) to offer or accept any opportunities with BP during the course of study or after graduation.

How much is it worth? £2,000 - The awards are for 1 year only, although you can reapply in the following year irrespective of whether you were successful or unsuccessful in a previous application.

Listed below are the Undergraduate scholarships and bursaries offered by the schools to international students within the Faculty of Engineering.

Excellence Scholarships

We have a number of excellence scholarships available for those wishing to study in any of the five schools within the Faculty of Engineering.
Who is eligible? Any potential student who has been offered a place on any of the undergraduate degree courses within the Faculty of Engineering entering at level 1.
Excludes IFY students.
How are they awarded? Academic achievement /excellence
Number of awards 15 available for 2012 entry
How much are they worth? £4,000 for full time international fee paying students
Application deadline Application deadline 30 June 2012 (for entry in 2012), successful applicants will be notified within two weeks of the deadline and must respond accepting the scholarship within 14 days. Download application form.

International Foundation Year Bursary

Who is eligible? Successfully completed the IFY at Leeds and studying for one of the undergraduate degrees in engineering or computing in the Faculty of Engineering.
Criteria Automatic to privately funded students who have successfully completed the International Foundation Year at Leeds.
Number of awards Automatic to anyone meeting the criteria
How much are they worth? 10% of full tuition fees for first year of the course
Application deadline None – automatic.
