Engineering and Computing Scholarships

This is a bursary for any former student (and for children of former students) of the University of Leeds studying for a postgraduate qualification in the Faculty of Engineering. Excluding courses that are run in conjunction with other universities. This bursary can not be awarded retrospectively.

Who is eligible?
This is an automatic bursary but you have to inform us and provide evidence that you or a parent/step-parent are former students of the University of Leeds.

How much is it worth?
The University will pay 10% of your fees for each year of the course. If no fees paid (e.g. your fees are covered by a sponsor) then no bursary is awarded.

Application deadline
None — automatic. If you think you are eligible you need to contact the relevant admissions team for the course you have applied for.

University Research Scholarships are available for students from the United Kingdom and other EU countries who are commencing PhD study from October 2012. Applicants must hold at least a UK Upper Second Class Honours degree or equivalent undergraduate degree. The Scholarships cover academic fees and an annual maintenance grant (£13,590 per annum in Session 2011/12 - full-time rate). For more information visit the the Postgraduate Scholarships website.

This scholarship is available to students from the United Kingdom and other EU countries, wishing to undertake a research degree study on matters relating to chemical and biological surveys of rivers and streams, pollution prevention and the purification of sewage and trade effluents in the geographical area known as the West Riding of Yorkshire, prior to the boundary changes, which became effective on 1 April 1974.

The scholarship will provide academic fees at the University of Leeds standard UK rate and a maintenance grant of £10,000 per annum. The awards are made for one year in the first instance and renewable for a further two years, subject to satisfactory academic performance.

Applicants must hold at least a UK Upper Second Class Honours degree or equivalent undergraduate degree. For more information visit the the Postgraduate Scholarships website.

This is a bursary for any staff or students from the following universities studying for a postgraduate research degree within the Faculty of Engineering at Leeds: COMSATS, Mehran, NUST and UET Lahore.

Students have to be at the above named university in the year prior to commencing their studies at Leeds.

Who is eligible?
This is an automatic bursary but you have to inform us and provide evidence that you are a student/staff member of one of the named universities.

How much is it worth?
20% of fees paid by the individual for each year of the course. If no fees paid then no bursary is awarded.

These studentships are attached to a specific research project and normally pay tuition fees and a stipend for living expenses.

Nine fully-funded awards are available for international students who are commencing full-time PhD study from Session 2012/13. Up to 10 China Scholarship Council - University of Leeds Scholarships are available for high quality Chinese students who are studying or working at a Chinese University and will be commencing PhD research study from session 2012/13. The award will cover full international fees. The China Scholarship Council will pay a maintenance grant, return economy air travel to and from the UK and visa application fees to successful applicants. The award will be made for one year in the first instance and renewable for a further period of up to two years, subject to satisfactory academic progress.
