Product Design students represented the University of Leeds and the School of Mechanical Engineering at 2014 New Designers exhibition last week, where they showcased the work they had produced for their final year projects. The exhibition was held at the Business Design Centre in London and lasted for 5 days. On show were 14 accomplished designs by graduating students from the BDes and MDes courses, making this the 7th year that Leeds Product Design students have exhibited at New Designers.
The show was attended by designers from manufactures, the creative industries and even government. Representatives from leading design consultancies and from world class companies visited the stand to talk to our students.
Many of the projects solve real life problems such as supporting sporting activities for asthma patients, reducing disease in developing countries, storing fruit and vegetables in a sustainable way and an inclusive wine glass for people with limited dexterity.
Devices also included juicers, food mixers and kettles inspired by Diesel Punk, Steam Punk and Retro futurism. The 15 students spent the week in London presenting their work to potential employers and students interested in a career in product design.
