Professor Richard Williams-Australian Academy honours

Professor Richard Williams, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Enterprise, Knowledge Transfer and International Strategy at the University of Leeds, has been elected a Fellow of the prestigious Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering.

The academy is an independent, non-government organisation dedicated to the promotion in Australia of scientific and engineering knowledge to practical purposes. Professor Williams is one of just two non-Australians included in the 32 new Fellows elected at the academy’s Annual General Meeting in Melbourne on 16th November.

Professor Williams is Anglo American plc Professor of Mineral and Process Engineering in the Institute of Particle Science and Engineering at the University of Leeds. He was honoured for his achievements and leadership in innovation, leading to new instrumentation, products and services in the process engineering sector.

He said: “Science and engineering is a key strategic enabler of the growing Australian economy and education system and I am especially appreciative of the opportunity to be a Fellow of this leading national academy and the links it will foster between engineering in UK and Australia."
