Research interests include: sustainable energy with low carbon and low pollutant emissions; biomass and energy crops for energy applications; biomass combustion, pyrolysis and gasification; biomass and coal combustion molecular models energy management and conservation; energy and materials recovery from waste by gasification and pyrolysis; energy from waste, dioxins and metals from incineration of waste materials; solar energy; building management systems; clean coal technology; coal combustion, coal water slurries; coal and carbon science; production of hydrogen from renewable sources; catalytic combustion of hydrocarbons; and solid oxide fuel cell systems, hybrid technologies, micro turbines, hydrogen combustion.
