Current Research- High Temperature Combustion Technology

Externally funded research activity is focused on the oxy-fuel combustion process. The research includes the utilisation of oxygen in gas turbines for power generation. Oxy-fuel combustion produces CO2 and steam, which is easily separated leaving the CO2 for sequestration. Laser diagnostic laboratory with Planer Laser Induced Fluorescence (PLIF), PIV and Raman, supports this research activity. Other facilities in this laboratory include a range of burner facilities
