Energy Research Institute Analytical Laboratory

We offer a wide range of analytical instrumentation to researchers across the University and to outside organisations. The main focus of the laboratory is in fields related to energy science and engineering, but we frequently help researchers working in other areas.

We have recently benefitted from a £0.5M investment in state-of-the-art sample preparation and analytical instrumentation (HEFCE SRIF 4).

  - Identification and/or quantification of components in organic solution or by headspace analysis

  - Fast analysis of the functional groups in solid, liquid and gas samples
  
• Thermal Analysis
  - Analysis of reactions by monitoring sample weight and/or heat flow against time and temperature

  - CHNSO (ultimate) analysis of solids and liquids
