Entry requirements

A Master’s degree and/or at least an upper second class (2.1) honours degree in engineering or a physical science or related discipline degree. (e.g. Engineering; Chemistry; Maths; Physics; Computing; Transport; Environmental Science/Management; Geology; Geophysics).

Applicants with a 2.2 first degree will not usually be considered, even if they also have a Master's level degree. Applicants must have been resident in the United Kingdom for at least 3 years in order to be eligible for full funding.

Funding

UK EU students will be eligible for a full award, covering the cost of academic fees (UK/EU rate) and a maintenance grant of £17,000 per annum. UK/EU students must have been resident within the UK/EU for 3 years prior to commencement of the award.

Please be aware that international students are eligible for a scholarship, but the scholarship is set at UK-level fees. Therefore, an international student would receive approximately £3,800 per year to cover fees, plus £17,000 per year maintenance. International fees are set at £15,600 per year so a student would need to find an additional source of funding e.g. from industry or home government to make up the balance of the studentship (around £11,800 per year).
