Chamelic develops a series of smart surface coatings which have adaptive properties which are stimulated by an external trigger mechanism. The main product development is an easy-clean surface coating for use on a wide range of surfaces such as metals (aluminium, PVCu, stainless steel, brass, copper and bronze), glass and plastic surfaces (PVC etc.).
The materials of choice in our coating are stimuli-responsive copolymers, synthesised using controlled radical polymerisation. This family of polymers are able to self-assemble into the coating materials. Once made, these novel polymers are formulated into a product that can be easily applied to surfaces. The methods of application are spraying, dipping or curtain/ flow coating.
Then, the behaviour and morphology of these surface coatings are characterised for various properties including quality of the films produced, their response to various stimuli and ease of deposition.
This technology is based on the stimuli-responsive property of the polymer and their reversible morphology once upon adsorbed onto a surface. This allows the formation of a smart microstructured surface via a cheap, easy and straight forward process, without the use of organic solvents, drying and/or annealing procedures. The simplicity of this process in term of application is suitable for the domestic market but also for industry.
Rheokinisis Ltd. was established on the 1st May 2007 to develop a series of novel sensory instruments capable of monitoring the rheological properties of process liquids, slurries and pastes in-situ and on-line. The technology can be suitably applied in several industrial sectors such as Nuclear, Food, Pharmaceutical, Mineral and Petroleum. Rheokinisis is dedicated to providing a technological solution for the rheological needs of our industrial partners.
