Industrial Partners
The School of Civil Engineering would be unable to stage the fieldcourse without the enthusiastic participation and generous commitment of our industrial partners. The University and our students gratefully acknowledge this support.
With support from their supply chain, Shepherd Construction establish the Constructionarium site with all the necessary materials and equipment plus a comprehensive site staff (of about eight) for the duration of the fieldcourse.
"For five working days experience for yourself the team effort necessary to build a project safely, on time and to a budget. Translate the theory into practice."

As from Summer 2010 our engineering partner will be the Leeds Office of Buro Happold. Our engineering partner for the first five years of our participation in the Constructionarium was Arup (who provided the resident engineer and was involved in the development of new student projects for the Constructionarium)..
"I’m very impressed with their enthusiasm and haven’t noticed anyone standing around with a shovel. We thought there would be a lot of bickering but the project managers are fulfilling the role in the way we would expect them to."
Matt Lovell, Engineer (Arup)

In both cases the involvement of our industrial partners starts more that six months prior to the fieldcourse with planning and preparation and extends beyond the departure of the students.
