The School of Computing runs a 'year in industry' (sandwich) placement scheme, whereby students work in a company between their second and third years. These pages provide information about Industrial Placements undertaken by students from the School of Computing at the University of Leeds. Some students also do Summer Internships, which are covered here.
An industrial placement is one academic year spent working for a company and not studying in the University. Students who do these placements will either take four or five years to complete their degree (depending on whether they choose the BSc or MEng route).
During your placement, you will work under the direct supervision of a manager at the company. You will be allocated a mentor from the School of Computing who will arrange at least one visit to the company during your placement.
Very briefly, to improve your chances both of getting a good job and of getting a good class of degree.
