What makes a top ten computer science university?

There are a number of factors that have contributed to the Leeds University School of Computing being regarded as a top ten computer science university. So what is it that makes us stand out and why should you consider studying with us?

International Research and Excellent Work
One of the formative reasons that you should consider studying with us is our reputation for producing internationally recognised work; considered excellent by many leading institutions. The RAE (Research Assessment Exercise) 2008 recognised our work and status as a top ten computer science university.

This is a key aim of any computer science university and our ability to produce work of this standard demonstrates the strength of research and facilities available.

This leads nicely onto the next of our strengths – the range of courses and study options available.

A Range of Courses
We have dedicated staff and research students working in a number of fields connected to computer science and this is reflected in our syllabuses.

You will be able to learn with and from a strong network of academics, all of whom have different interests and fields of study. To accommodate this we have a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses available.

Most of these are led by our network of internationally recognised staff who continue to aid our research, whilst furthering your academic potential.

An International Computer Science University
Finally, the term ‘international’ has been bandied around a lot whilst talking about our merits as a top ten computer science university and it is indeed a core theme at Leeds University School of Computing. We welcome an international selection of students each year and this enhances yours and ours experiences.

However, despite this list of attributes we are aware that there are always plenty of areas that we can continue to grow and develop, which is why we aim to attract the best students and staff each year.
