Best Paper Award (March 27, 2013)
The IC2E 2013 Best Paper Award has been announced. Zhenjie Zhang, Richard T.B. Ma, Jianbing Ding, and Yin Yang have won the Best Paper Award for their paper entitled "ABACUS: An Auction-Based Approach to Cloud Service Differentiation". In addition, Wei Xiang Goh and Kian-Lee Tan have been recognized with a Best Paper Runner Up for their paper entitled "Katana: Generalized Data Processing on Peer-to-Peer Overlays". Congratulations!
Journal Special Issue (March 4, 2013)
IC2E has made an arrangement with the IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing (TCC). Select papers from IC2E 2013 will be published in a special issue of TCC.
No Show Policy for Authors (March 2, 2013)
Authors of accepted papers are advised of the IEEE Computer Society No Show Policy: "In offering a paper for presentation at an IEEE conference, or accepting an invitation to present a paper, it's expected that you'll be present at the meeting to deliver your paper. In the event you're unable to present your paper, quickly notify the technical program chair and make substitute arrangements. Your paper may be excluded from IEEE Xplore and the CSDL if you don't appear at the conference."
Student Travel Grants (March 1, 2013)
We are pleased to announce the availability of Student Travel Grants for IC2E 2013. These grants are intended to broaden participation in IC2E 2013 and to foster student research in the scope of the conference. The grants will provide stipends to cover registration fees and assist with travel and accommodation expenses for students who wish to attend IC2E 2013. The grants have been made possible by the generous contributions of IBM Research and IEEE Computer Society's Technical Committee on Business Informatics and Systems (TCBIS). More information can be found here.
Keynote Speeches (February 25, 2013)
IC2E 2013 will be co-located with SOSE 2013 and MobileCloud 2013. The three conferences will jointly organize the keynote sessions. Dr. Dennis Quan, VP of SmartCloud Enterprise at IBM, will give a keynote speech on March 26, 2013 entitled "Trends in Enterprise Update of Cloud Computing". Professor Sujit Dey of UC San Diego will give a keynote speech on March 27, 2013 entitled "Mobile Cloud Computing to Enable Rich Media Applications". Information on the additional keynotes is available at http://sei.pku.edu.cn/conference/sose2013/keynotes.htm.
Introduction to IC2E 2013
Cloud computing has emerged as a new paradigm for the use and delivery of information technology (IT), and is revolutionizing the support of on-demand access, economies of scale and dynamic sourcing options. In the cloud context, a wide range of IT resources and capabilities, including servers, networking, storage, middleware, data, security, applications, and business processes, are available as services enabled for rapid provisioning, flexible pricing, elastic scaling and resilience. These new forms of IT services are challenging conventional wisdom and practices. To fully reap the benefits of the cloud service model requires holistic treatment of key technical and business issues, and engineering methodology that draws upon innovations in diverse areas of computer science and business informatics.
The IEEE International Conference on Cloud Engineering (IC2E) is a new conference that seeks to provide a high-quality and comprehensive forum, where researchers and practitioners involved in the development of cloud infrastructure and applications can exchange information on engineering principles, enabling technologies, and practical experiences as related to cloud computing. By bringing together experts that work on different levels of the cloud stack - systems, storage, networking, platforms, databases, and applications, IC2E will offer an end-to-end view on the challenges and technologies in cloud computing, foster research that addresses the interaction between different layers of the stack, and ultimately help shape the future of cloud-transformed business and society.
