UK and EU Students
There are several studentships available for UK and EU students. If you want to apply for a scholarship you will have to indicate that on your application material. In addition, most scholarships need additional application forms which must arrive before a certain deadline and can only be processed after a general application for a place of study has been received. Therefore it is in general most advisable to get your place-of-study application in as soon as possible as scholarship applications will only be processed after it is clear that you fulfil the general PhD requirements.

Note that all research students can earn extra income through demonstrating and marking in support of the School's undergraduate teaching programmes, up to a maximum of 6 hours per week.
Many foreign governments have schemes to allow their graduates an overseas research stay. You will have to contact your own governmental organisations to find out about these schemes. The process for these is often quite slow and you should contact them as early as possible, preferably a year before your postgraduate degree starts.
There might be further specific funding opportunities on the University's scholarship website which includes a searchable database.
